Understand, plan and mange cross team dependencies better
This deep-dive workshop (delivered via Zoom and Miro) looks at all aspects of capturing, planning, managing, and eliminating cross-team dependencies and anything that blocks flow in organizations because of some missing need or handoff. Dependencies are brutal to flow even with just a few teams, but they are devastating to flow as organizations scale.
This workshop is for you if work spans multiple teams and needs to be coordinated in a more optimal way. By the completion of this session, you will have a better understanding of what types of dependencies are causing the most impact and tools to reduce that impact and solve the causes of those dependencies with the targeted process and interaction improvements. If you use Flight Levels Systems, then this workshop addresses the issue at FL2.
To understand and quantify the impact of dependencies on flow and predictability of value work
To define what dependencies are and what types your organizational flow is most vulnerable to
To quantify the impact of your dependencies to prioritize mitigation efforts and process change investment
To introduce better practices and interactions to avoid dependency impact at the planning and coordination meetings (Flight Level 2 systems, Scrum of Scrum meetings, Release Planning, etc)
In addition to the listed public workshops, this Dependencies workshop is ideal for running internally. When run for a single company, we spend a lot more time working on the interactions and mitigation portions that will massively improve flow within your organization. Use the contact link to request more information.
This workshop has four parts that match the learning outcomes with two or three group exercises in each to give you a way to explore the topics with peers, and also to give you tools to use within your organization to facilitate dependency management, some of these are -
Dependency type sensitivity (what types of dependencies impact flow most)
Dependency prioritization matrix (what dependencies cost us the most and we need to fix)
Dependency planning, interactions, and process improvement canvas
We will use these tools during the workshop and focus on how to facilitate using them inside your organization as an ongoing set of tools to improve flow in multiple team interconnected organizations.
